One of our favorite urban legends is the story of Harry Fox, the designer of the ballroom dance, the Fox Trot.  We credit him, and his dance, as the namesake of our company.

In the early 20th century, ballroom dance enjoyed tremendous popularity.  The quickstep was among the fashionable dances, but
its technique was complex and difficult to master.  For this reason,
it was too complicated for the average dancer who wanted to
be great.

To make the quickstep more accessible, Harry Fox modified a few of the dance steps to create the Fox Trot.   His minor adjustments to the technique made the dance accessible to the common man and provided hope for large masses to master the dance.

Some say that the Fox Trot was the most significant development in ballroom dancing, allowing for greater flexibility, variety and pleasure than any other dance.
